+ From the stage to the salon
When Allan Michaels was working in the theater world, acting, dancing and singing were not his only responsibilities. He also spent many hours doing hair and make up for his fellow players.
It was only natural after he left the stage for Michaels to open a salon. Salon Zavizion is nestled in the back corner of the European Village, 101 Palm Harbor Parkway, Suite 111.
The eclectic space features one-of-a-kind pots, vases and boxes that Michaels creates in his spare time. Most pieces are covered in shells, stones and small gems — “any exquisite bauble that can be glued to a surface and preserve-coated with polyurethane,” Michaels said.
Michaels started this hobby by decorating the sterilization jars around the salon because in his words, “They were just too plain.”
Starting Friday, Nov. 12, Michaels will be displaying his artwork at the salon every weekend until January. Call 446-9682.
+ FHF names first COO
Florida Hospital Flagler’s vice president of clinical services, Eunmee Shim, has been selected to serve as the first chief operating officer for the hospital.
“The decision to promote Eunmee is due in part to the growth of our organization to the 900-employee milestone, as well as our expanding services, such as interventional cardiology,” said David Ottati, Florida Hospital Flagler CEO. “She has done a terrific job and operationally, this new structure will allow me to focus on additional market growth initiatives that are imperative for our long-term success.”
Shim joined Florida Hospital Flagler in February 2008.
Also, as of last month, Bunnell Medical Center, 700 E. Moody Blvd. has changed to Family Focus Medical Center, a service of Florida Hospital Flagler. Family-practice physician Dr. Yolanda Lucas will head up the practice.
In addition, the Emergency Department at FHF is the first Florida Hospital within Volusia and Flagler counties to achieve 100% fully electronic patient medical records, including physician documentation.
The paperless system designed specifically for the Emergency Department was created to efficiently manage physician documentation by eliminating handwritten notes and minimize the potential for errors.
The new system automatically creates a template based on a patient’s condition, age and gender, streamlining the process for both patient and clinician and eliminating redundant questions.
