The Grand Haven Women’s member-member had a boatful of close matches: Geri Fitzgerald and Kaye Boyer won the Kerr Flight with a score of 24. Judy Hackstaff and Sue Gump were second. The Creamer Flight was won by Linda Barczak and Sharon Lostaglio with scores of 24. Two shots back in second were Glenna Pruitt and Kathy McArdle.
The Wie Flight was a close match: Pat Tomnay and Charlene Harris were winners over Diana Figliuolo and Fran Chiodo despite equal scores of 25.
The Tuesday game at Grand Haven was led by Jan Davenport, who took first place in the Red Bud Flight with 37.5. Irene Klingenbert won the Orange Blossom Flight on a score of 30.5. The Dogwood Flight went to Karen Delvac at 30.5.
Grand Reserve Men played their usual points game, and Nate Tatem polished off his first winning appearance with a 41. Doug Merrit ran away from the second-flight group, with 42.
The 18-hole ladies at Grand Reserve played host to St. Augustine Shores. Eleven teams competed for four places. Winners were Linda Block, Carol Gear, Ann McDowell and Mimi Lenio. In second was the team of Diane Fountaine, Kay MacCalla, Norma Pire and Patty Dorfman.
Friday’s group found Rae Ann Schumacher winning low-gross with a 41. Nancy Rupert took net in Flight A with a 31. Diana Mariano won low gross in the B Flight with a 47; Wanda Eller took net at 31. The C Flight went to Pat Alekson scoring a 50; Sharon Pearce had 34 for low net.
At the Grand Club’s Pine Course, Harry Davis topped the Chicago points game with a score of 40. The second flight went to Ed Chmel. The third flight went to Pete Hatch and John Maino with 37. Second was Harry Leipold on a 36, Paul Franchini third at 35 in a card match with Jack Leide. Jim Miller socked away first in the fourth flight with a 42-pointer. Russ Brown won the Gold Flight on 43 points.
The Palm Harbor Men were plenty active starting with the Green Flight. Charlie Fiske won first at 29.5; George Pollio was second, one-half-stroke back.
Green Flight 2 went to Mike Kazio with a 28.5. Flight 3 was Joe Monaco’s, scoring 28.5. Flight 4 was won by John Durish at 27.
White Flight winners were Ray Good 28.5, Brian Riehle 28.5 and Don Bach at 29.5. White Flight 2 was taken by Ron Mowatt 27.5. White Flight 3 went to Fidel Seneris 27.5.
Betsy Thomas stacked away the A Flight for the Palm Harbor Niners at 17.5 for best-five-holes. The B Flight went to Antia Mylis at 19. June McDonough ran off with the C Flight, scoring at 17.5.
The Palm Harbor 18-hole Ladies played Revert 2 Holes to Par, a match won by Sonya Sapp with a final score of 64. Diane Zeeman was second at 65 and Holly Pond third on a card match with 67. Dot Jacobs cornered Flight 2, scoring an eye-opening 58.
At Matanzas, the women featured a Partner’s Tournament. Fran Knoedler teamed up with Carolyn McLaughlin to tie with Joyce Chmel and Connie McClintock, both at scores of 59. The league had a flock of birdies: two by Alice Manthey, and one each by Carolyn McLaughlin, Connie McClintock, Nidia Farrell, Zita Corum, Barb Bergquist and Karie Hopler.
