Palm Coast One on One Fitness and Zumba instructor Vaneza Roberts hosted a Zumbathon charity event this month to benefit Comunità Cenacolo America. Cenacolo missionaries are sent to Brazil, Mexico or Peru to open fraternities for homeless children. With a minimum $10 donation at the door, 85 people attended the event to raise more than $1,500 for the cause.

+ PetSmart fosters adoption
Through the company’s in-store adoption program, PetSmart hopes to save more than 440,000 pets a year nationwide. In cooperation with this initiative, PetSmart’s Palm Coast branch at Town Center has equipped a cat adoption showcase. All cats up for adoption come from the Flagler Humane Society, have been spayed/neutered and have updated shots. Flagler Humane Society volunteers visit twice daily to clean, feed and entertain the animals. PetSmart supplies all food and supplies as part of the charity program. A separate program for dog adoption is also conducted.

+ Marlin Consulting expands
Marlin Consulting Solutions President Jason Johnson recently reconnected via Facebook with Robert Fleming, with whom he attended high school years ago, in St. Maarten, in the Caribbean. Fleming had since moved to Florida to attend college.

The two are now in business together, with Fleming opening a new office of Marlin Consulting Solutions, a marketing, consulting and search engine optimization firm Johnson started in March 2009.

“The ideal scenario would be to add jobs here,” Johnson said. “The production hub will stay here, in Flagler County, and the Orlando office would be primarily sales.”
