The bricks are stacking up, and soon, the potatoes will be, too.
The Wendy’s restaurant under construction on State Road 100, at the new Flagler Central Commerce Park, will be open as early as the end of May, but at least by the second week of June, according to Wencoast Foods Inc. Supervisor Chris Zwirn.
Zwirn said he will hire 40 people to start with. Until a certificate of occupancy is issued, no applications will be accepted at that location, but people can apply at the existing Wendy’s restaurants in Palm Coast at any time.
“We’re excited,“ Zwirn said. “We’re chomping at the bit to get that store open and get some folks working with us down in Bunnell.”
The store will also have a tent May 21, at the third-annual Potato Festival, in Bunnell, and will sell baked potatoes. All proceeds will benefit the city of Bunnell, Zwirn said.
