+ Matanzas track sends 11 to state meet
The Matanzas Pirates track-and-field team qualified 11 individuals for the Class 2A state meet, which will take place Saturday, April 30, in Winter Park. Overall, the boys team finished third, and the girls team finished seventh.

Hannah Loder won the 1,600 meters and 3,200 meters, and also ran the third leg of the 4x800-meter relay team. Loder finished the 1,600 in 5 minutes, 20 seconds; she finished the 3,200 in 11:46, and the relay team finished in 10:19, finishing in fifth place and setting a school record. The relay team features Loder, Stefania Bertone, Jessica Deegan and Victoria Ecker.

Justin Watts placed second in the 400-meter dash, running a personal best of 50.38 seconds. Perez Pierre qualified in the 110-meter hurdles, placing fourth after finishing in 15.22 seconds. Levi Rosa qualified in the pole vault after placing third, clearing 11 feet, 6 inches. Darren Richardson placed third in the high jump after clearing 6 feet, 2 inches. David Drumm placed third in the 3,200 meters, finishing in 10:01.

Also qualifying was the boys 4x800-meter relay team (Watts, Nikko Bembry, Cameron Allen and Chris Bailey — placed fourth, finishing in 8:20) and the 4x400-meter relay team (Isaiah Haines, Watts, Steven Van Buren and Bembry — placed fourth, finishing in 3:26).

+ Bulldogs lacrosse defeated 16-12

The Flagler Palm Coast Bulldogs boys lacrosse team lost to Winter Springs Wednesday, April 20, with a final score of 16-12 in the first round of the district tournament.

FPC led 11-9 with eight minutes remaining, but couldn’t hold off Winter Springs.

Shane Noble had five goals, two assists; Wes Adams had two goals, two assists; Ryan Devens had three goals; and Cheyne Devens had two goals, three assists.

+ FPC baseball loses in first round
Flagler Palm Coast baseball was knocked out in the first round of the District 2-6A tournament Monday, April 25, after losing to Seabreeze 3-2.

The Bulldogs (13-12) fell behind to a 3-0 deficit early and couldn’t drive in runs in the top of the seventh inning when they had the bases loaded with two outs.

+ Matanzas baseball loses to St. Augustine
Matanzas baseball was knocked out of the first round of the district tournament Saturday, April 23, after losing to St. Augustine 14-2.

Tony Mendez went 2-for-2 with one homer and two RBIs.
