Bananas Foster, goat cheese and pesto bruschetta and black-bean stuffed shrimp were just a few of the dishes served Monday, April 25, at the Taste of Flagler, presented by the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce & Affiliates.

This year’s event, held at the Conservatory Golf Club, sold 400 tickets and featured 12 local restaurants. But the night was not over when the food was gone.

Aftertaste, an after party new to the event, sold out at 125 tickets and featured cocktails, beer sampling and more desserts.

“Taste of Flagler was a great success thanks to our sponsors and hard work from all the participating restaurants and caterers,” said Rebecca DeLorenzo, executive vice president of the chamber. “The judges were impressed with the quality, variety and presentation of the food, and I doubt anyone left the event hungry.”

Judges for the event were chefs David Bearl, of First Coast Technical Institute, in St. Johns County; Erik Amalfitano, of Flip Flops Grill and Chill, in New Smyrna Beach; and Danny Veltri, owner of Back From Hell Catering and the winner of  season five of the TV show “Hell’s Kitchen.”

The winner were; best appetizer, Atlantic Grille for their salmon; best entrée, Grand Haven for their beef tenderloin; best dessert, Carmella’s Pizza and Pasta for their cannoli; healthy choice, Florida Hospital Flagler; best food presentation, Delfino’s; people’s choice, Grand Haven; and best overall, Delfino’s for their short ribs.
