+ Palm Coast resident wins customer-service award
Funeral director Jeff Wilson, of Palm Coast, was recently recognized by J.D. Power & Associates, out of 200 others in his field, for best customer service in 2011. Wilson works out of Jacksonville, in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin.

An 18-year funeral director, he is also ranked in the top 10%, out of 2,200 total Dignity Memorial funeral directors, and previously worked at Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home in Flagler Beach, from 2004 to 2010.

+ Flagler hotels to offer Speed Week discounts
Daytona International Speedway has announced an expanded promotion for fans planning to attend Speed Week, or the Daytona 500, in 2012. More than 20 hotels in Flagler, Volusia and Seminole Counties will be participating in the program, running through Feb. 22, in offering 20% or more off of standard rates. Eligibility for hotel booking will be open until Dec. 31.

+ Chamber leads group names new officers
Headed into its third year, the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce & Affiliates leads group Chamber Business Connectors recently elected Rich Cooper, of Mitchell Noel Insurance, and Marty Lewis, of Money Pages Marketing, as new co-chairs. They chose Rubi Torres, of Hancock Bank, as secretary.

Commercial permit applications submitted:
AM Weigel Construction submitted a $264,200 permit and a $43,800 permit application, for a maintenance building and a pavilion, respectively, at the Indian Trails Sports Complex, at 5455 Belle Terre Parkway.

Commercial permits issued:
• Manley Construction was issued a $20,000 permit for parking lot modifications, at 315 Palm Coast Parkway.
• T-Con Group Inc. was issued a $2,000 permit for alterations to Hartland Dental Group, at 85 Cypress Point Parkway.
• Budgen Construction was issued a $1,800 permit for alterations to 2 Old Kings Road.

Occupancy permits issued:
21 Hospital Drive, unit 220 Sheridan Health Corp. Dr. Jeanelle Brown

Commercial certificates of occupancy issued:
• The city of Palm Coast was issued a $20,000 permit for site development for the Waterstar Project, at 2 Utility Drive.
• Palm Coast Residential Services was issued a $2,000 permit for The Chocolate Factory, at 18 Hargrove Grade.
• T-Con Group Inc. was issued a $1,800 permit for Nikzad Plaza shopping center, at 85 Cypress Point Parkway.

Residential permits issued:
• A $345,000 permit was issued to Skyway Builders, for a single-residence at 191 Willow Oak Way.
• A $45,000 permit was issued to Gemstone Contractors, for an addition to 50 Breeze Hill Lane.
• A $16,000 permit was issued to KC Screen, for an addition to 12 Rybar Lane.
• A $12,000 permit was issued to Ferree Builders Inc., for an addition to 65 Zinnia Trail.
• An $11,000 permit was issued to Ted & Bob’s Aluminum, for an addition to 6 Westland Place.
