The Mustangs have outscored their opponents 35-0 through five games this season.
There is something going around Flagler County that has soccer teams playing at an extremely high level.
Much like the Flagler Palm Coast girls soccer team, the Indian Trails Middle School girls soccer team has been dominating its opponents.
In fact, the Mustangs are undefeated through the first five games this season. They are outscoring their opponents 35-0.
The program was started by coach Pat Gould in hopes to develop a feeder program for the two high schools.
“We are trying to build a strong program to help at the high school level,” Gould said. “With stronger foundations, we’re trying to create an environment of competition to help elevate Flagler County players.”
The team actually only has 11 players, though. They don’t have any substitutes.
Gould said he hopes to get more players involved in the program next season, and also hopes to start a boys program, too.
Games are played through the St. Johns County Middle School Athletic Association, and the program is sponsored by Flagler Premier Soccer.
Gould said eight of the 11 players have scored multiple goals this season. They all play various positions because of the lack of depth. He also said the help of Indian Trails Principal Vernon Orndorff and the cooperation with the city for field usage has helped the team be successful.
The Mustangs next game is 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, against Liberty Pines Middle School, at Veterans Park, in St. Johns County.
