The dance at the Italian American Club raised funds for the domestic violence awareness.

More than 150 people got in an early Christmas spirit Saturday, July 23, at the Christmas in July dinner and dance put on by the Friends of the Domestic Violence Task Force.

The dance, held at the Italian American Club, featured entertainment by Tim Rippey and the North East Florida Dance Academy.

Friends of the Domestic Violence Task Force raises money for the victims of domestic violence in Flagler County.

The purpose of the group is to find creative fundraisers, said Donna Kearney, treasurer. The funds raised go toward paying for things that are often taken for granted, such as baby food, gas, electric bills and changing locks, she said.

Kearney said the most important task is to encourage victims to get help and know that there are funds available.

The next fundraiser, the seventh-annual Black and White Ball, will be Oct. 1. For tickets, call 931-6209 or visit www.fdvtf.webs.com.
