Portuguese citizens and emigrants throughout the world celebrated Portugal Day the weekend of June 10.

Locally, about 300 people gathered Saturday, June 11, to celebrate Portugal’s National Day, at the Flagler County Fairgrounds.

The celebration started with a traditional Mass, followed by the raising of the U.S. and Portuguese flags. The festivities continued throughout the day with traditional food, music and dance.

The Portuguese American Club, which sponsored the event, is suffering from self-proclaimed “growing pains” which caused the group to change locations for the club to the bigger space at the fairgrounds.
