There are a variety of scholarships available to graduating high school seniors in Flagler County. They are just waiting for applicants. In 2010, more than 200 scholarships were awarded to students in the county, for a total of $320,000.
One such scholarship is offered by the University Women of Flagler. Four to five $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to female Flagler County residents. The deadline is March 11. Visit uwflagler.org.
The Italian American Social Club of Palm Coast will also award two $1,000 scholarships. Applicants must be the child or grandchild of a member or associate member of the club. The deadline is March 15. Call 445-8315.
The Garden Club of Palm Coast is offering two $500 scholarships to residing in Flagler County who are seeking further education in horticulture, agriculture and environmental studies. The deadline is March 15. Apply at Flagler County libraries and high schools or call 445-8315.
The Flagler County Friends of the Library is awarding two $1,000 scholarships with a March 11 deadline. Apply at Flagler County libraries and high schools or call 445-8315.
The Stephanie P. Smith Memorial Scholarship will award at least one $500 scholarship to a graduating senior from Flagler Palm Coast High School who will be attending Florida State University. Applications are available in the FPC guidance department. The deadline is March 10. See the FPC guidance office.
The Afro-American Caribbean Heritage Organization is offering several $500 scholarships to high school graduates of Afro-American or Caribbean descent. Applicants must be Flagler County residents with a minimum 3.0 grade point average. The deadline is March 12. Call 446-7822.
The Irish Social Club of Palm Coast will award a $1,000 scholarship. The student must be a resident of Flagler County, of Irish descent and a participant in school and community activities with at least a 3.0 grade point average. The deadline is March 19. The Palm Coast United Methodist Concert Series will give two $500 music scholarships for piano and voice. The scholarships are for graduating students and those who have begun matriculation with grades of a B or better, above-average talent and written recommendations from music and academic instructors.
