Matanzas High School crowned Shawn White Jr. and McKenzie Schofield as the 2011 Mr. and Miss Matanzas Thursday, March 17.

Presented by Barbara Tant’s DECA students and marketing classes, the theme for the contest this year was “Brighter than the Moon.”

Participants competed in a school-performance category, in which they showcased their talents and were later interviewed by the judges: Ether Gilbert Hamilton, A.J. Neste and Megan Neste.

First runners-up were Jared Mason and Lexy O’Keefe, and second runners-up were Chris Hickey and Marissa Price.
