Anthony Wild, leader of Anthony Wild and The Suspects, will be giving away a guitar Friday, March 25, at the Family Fun Fest, at Town Center, before his band headlines Friday’s festivities.

Wild is beginning a nonprofit organization called “Kids Rock The Nation,” which will give away guitars to children.

Wild said he was diagnosed with cancer many years ago but “has been given a second chance at life.” He asked his doctor how he could repay him; his doctor said he should give back to children and let his music lead the way.

Wild said he has given away seven guitars over the past year and plans to continue his mission of getting as many children interested in music as possible.

“I don’t want to give every kid in America a guitar,” Wild said. “But, it’s keeping them from becoming a video game freak.

“I don’t expect them to become rock stars, but if they can learn dedication, that’s what it’s all about. If I could help one kid out there — it’s all worth it.”
