The Family Fun Fest will benefit the Flagler County Education Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that generates financial support and awareness to enhance educational programs benefiting students and teachers.
“Flagler County is a caring and giving community, and over the past few challenging years, we have been able to increase fundraising efforts to assist a population in greater need then ever before,” said Nicole Brose, executive director of the foundation. “Education is essential to all children, but to those who struggle with issues, it is of utmost importance in their lives — because no one can ever take it away.”
She added, “We depend almost exclusively on the support of caring individuals and at any given time there are a variety of projects that need assistance.”
In 2010, the organization celebrated its 20th year serving Flagler County Public Schools.
Below is a list of programs the foundation supports:
• Take Stock in Children, a statewide mentoring program based on socioeconomic status and student potential for success. College scholarships are provided to students incorporated into the program beginning in 7th grade. Mentors are needed at this time.
• Senior Scholarship Ceremony
• Teacher grants for innovative classroom projects
• Dolly Parton Imagination Library, a literacy program providing one free book per month to all qualifying Flagler County children, until they reach their fifth birthday.
• District Science Fair
• Teacher and Employee of the Year Awards
• Digital Media Awards
• Back 2 School Jam, which partners with many community partners to provide thousands of backpacks and school supplies for students in need
• S.T.U.F.F. BUS, which has provided more than 4,000 students with new and free essential living supplies since November 2009.
• Whispering Meadows Ranch, which provides programs for special need students in Flagler County
