Flagler PAL football signups take place 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 9, and Wednesday, May 11, at the PAL office, 5400 W. State Road 100.
Also, the Flagler County Police Athletic League announced its new Board of Directors.
New members include Michael Screder, president; Tracy Risby, vice president; Bill Berry, secretary; and Sonya Matthews, treasurer; and Renny Roker, board member.
Flagler PAL also announced the appointment of Cpl. Donald Apperson, of the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, as the new executive director. Apperson takes over for Lt. Zane Kelley, who served as the executive director for the past nine years. Apperson’s involvement with Flagler PAL dates back to its origination when he served as the organization’s first executive director and includes a three-year term as president of the football program. Apperson also currently serves as the head coach for the Matanzas High School varsity baseball team.
Roker was a part of PAL when he was 7 years old, and he said being a part of PAL growing up was important to building character.
“To have an opportunity to join forces with PAL again after so many years is a rare treat for me,” Roker said. “The PAL and our BMX center will have a unique opportunity together as our first fundraiser at the JAG BMX center will be for the PAL, followed by fundraisers for every youth group in Flagler County.”
