The Flagler Palm Coast Kiwanis Club gathered Wednesday, Oct. 12, to honor the commitment, professionalism and courage of four local firefighters, one from each department.
Frank Consentino, event organizer, thanked all departments for their hard work during the Flagler County wildfires this summer
Richard Friese
Capt. Richard Friese, Bunnell Fire Department, was honored for his hard work with the department.
Friese joined the department nine years ago as a volunteer. In the last year, he worked more than 2,000 hours and ran more than 400 service calls.
Friese was unable to attend the luncheon because he is fighting wildfires in Texas.
Chief Derek Fraser accepted the award on his behalf.
Adam Hardy
From the city of Flagler Beach, firefighter/paramedic Adam Hardy was recognized.
Hardy, nicknamed “T-bone” at his station, started with the department as a teenage volunteer.
From there he got his EMT certification and recently completed his paramedic certification at the top of his class.
“We are very proud of him,” said Chief Martin Roberts.
James Burnsed
Capt. James Burnsed was honored from Flagler County Emergency Services.
Burned was recognized for his actions during the Flagler County wildfires. He acted as the coordinator between the county and the Division of Forestry, working almost 100 hours a week, said Chief Don Petito.
Randy Holmes
From the city of Palm Coast, Lt. Randy Holmes was awarded for the charge he took during the wildfires. Holmes was the lead on the White Eagle fire, working 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. every day for three weeks.
The fire, which was the closest to a residential area, was put out with no homes lost.
