As boss clown Kellan Bermudez climbed a rotating ladder, his wife, Maribel, another performing clown, climbed the other end, causing the ladder to flip, over and over again.

The act demonstrated the difficulty of maintaining a perfect partnership, Tuesday, Oct. 25, when the Cole Bros. Circus made a stop in Palm Coast.

Bermudez said the biggest joy of his job is when he looks ringside to see a kid smiling and laughing.

“It’s a crazy life,” added performance director and ringmaster Chris Connors. “You have to love what you do.”

Connors has been with the Cole Bros. show for the past 10 years and has been in the clown business for 20.

The Cole Brothers will be returning to the area Nov. 1 for a stop at the Daytona Beach Kennel Club.
