Cousins Ruby Gill and Jaz Gill plan $400,000 in renovations during the next two years.
Ruby Gill, new owner of the Sleep Inn in Palm Coast, began his career in hospitality in 1998. Today, with his cousin and partner, Jaz Gill, he plans to update and revamp the Sleep Inn, at 10 Kingswood Drive, and he started by creating 14 jobs.
“All of our new employees are from Flagler,” Ruby Gill said. Even the hotel’s lawn service is local, he added. Renovation and construction companies will be local, too.
Gill has also partnered with local businesses to supply ads and coupons in each room for out-of-county visitors.
“We’re helping the community any way we can,” he said.
Gill took over the Sleep Inn in June, and brought on Amber Walker, a 25-year Palm Coast resident, as office manager.
“The more business a hotel gets, the more jobs we’ll be able to make for the community,” she said.
Throughout the next two years, Gill plans to invest about $400,000 into modernizing the Sleep Inn, by renovating the rooms, adding a gym and renovating the lobby.
When Ruby Gill took over, Sleep Inn had three employees on staff. Call 446-8180.
IN MEMORY OF FALLEN SOLDIERS
New Sleep Inn owner Ruby Gill will give free weeklong hotel stays to any family who has lost an immediate family member in battle.
“It’s our small way of showing them how much we appreciate their loved ones and the sacrifice their family has made for our country,” he said. “It’s the least we can do.”
The program is titled “A Week to Remember.”
