The Flagler Palm Coast Bulldogs collapsed in the fourth quarter Thursday night, allowing Seabreeze to score 19 unanswered points en route to a 40-13 victory.
The Bulldogs (1-1) trailed 21-13 early in the fourth quarter, but turnovers led to FPC’s demise.
“We couldn’t tackle their tailback and we couldn’t score when we needed to,” FPC coach Caesar Campana said, referring to Seabreeze's Trevaughn Rodriguez, who had 161 yards rushing for three touchdowns.
FPC running back DeUndre Lumpkins eclipsed 100 yards rushing for the second straight time, carrying the ball 19 times for 129 yards. QB Colton Boyd wasn’t as efficient as he was against Matanzas, and also threw a key interception when the Bulldogs were inside the Sandcrabs’ redzone.
“We had a chance to win ... but we fell apart in the fourth quarter,” Campana said. “We should have scored four or five touchdowns and we didn’t. We made crucial mental errors on both sides of the ball, and you can’t do that against Seabreeze.”
The Bulldogs will look to get back to winning when they host New Smryna Beach 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16.
