Matanzas High School’s girls volleyball team lost to Pedro Menendez Tuesday, Sept. 27, 3-0, on its home court.
The Pirates (7-8 and 0-4 in the district) started the match slowly, losing the first two games. Matanzas came together for a Game 3 comeback, taking the lead, but falling to Menendez, 20-25.
“You’ve got to play the game to the best of your abilities from first ball to last ball,” said coach Robert Roe. “I was very impressed with how (the team) played the last game.”
Stephanie Albano led the team offensively with six kills and 14 spikes, while Brittany Rodrigues was the top defender with 17 digs.
Roe said his team needs to improve in the mental aspect of the game. He thinks once the players get that down, the physical game will come.
