Time Square 360, a teen social club, opened Aug. 26.

Time Square 360, Palm Coast’s first social club for teens, threw its first party Aug. 26 at the Flagler County Association of Realtors building, at 4101 E. Moody Blvd.

Currently a home-based business, Time Square 360 will throw weekend bashes in leased FCAR space until it builds enough buzz for a standalone building.

The club’s founders, Nikoli and Olga Lagunchik, have children that grew up in Palm Coast. They opened Time Square 360 to offer local youth, ages 14 to 19, a place to hang that would keep them off the streets and out of trouble.

“It is less of a business, more of an opportunity for teens to meet with friends, have a good time, dance … with adult supervision,” said Olga Lagunchik.

Lagunchik hopes for the best for her new venue, but she said that church groups and schools currently monopolize the youth extracurriculars market. So she’s open to community partnerships.

“We are open to any professional advice or recommendations,” she said. They’re also looking for volunteers.

Every Time Square 360 party will be led by a disc jockey — 14-year-old Jeff Giancaspro (read about the city’s youngest entrepreneur at www.PalmCoast Observer.com) provided entertainment Sept. 24. He will likely be the club’s full-time music man.

“We want to do much more than this,” Shapiro said, suggesting themed parties and freestyle competitions. “But this is just a fun way to entertain kids on Fridays and Saturdays … Right now, we want to keep it as a dance party.”

“We’ve been doing a lot of research,” said Alex Shapiro, the club’s promoter, “(and) you get to learn that when kids don’t have anything to do … that’s when problems arise.”

Shapiro, who began promoting clubs in Manhattan when he was 16, said Time Square 360 started as a reaction to youth boredom.

“It’s a club atmosphere,” he said, “but it’s in a clean, safe, positive environment.”
