Matanzas boys tennis competes at districts

The Matanzas High School boys tennis team is currently competing in the district tournament.

Monday’s results are as follows:

SINGLES
1. Nick Petrillo advanced to the finals tomorrow (No. 1 seed, first-round bye) after a 6-1, 6-2 win.
2. Adam Hoke advanced to the finals (No. 1 seed, first-round bye) winning 6-2, 6-0.
3. Fischer Harrington (No. 2 seed) won his first round match 6-1, 6-4; lost in the semifinals 6-7 (2-7), 5-7.
4. Jorge Vazquez (No. 2 seed) reached the finals by winning in the first round 6-2, 6-3 and then in the semifinals, 6-3, 6-4.
5. Jose Cadre (No. 2 seed) lost 6-4, 5-7, 9-11 (10-point tiebreaker) in the first round.

DOUBLES
1. Petrillo/Hoke automatically advanced to the semi finals (No. 1 seed, first-round bye).
2. Harrington/Vazquez won their first round match 7-5, 6-3, advancing to tomorrow’s semis.

Tuesday's schedule:
Doubles semifinals — 9 a.m.
Singles finals — 11 a.m.
Doubles finals — 2 p.m.
