'Fiddler on the Roof' to open at Flagler Playhouse

The Flagler Playhouse will wrap up the 2011-12 season with the Tony Award winning musical “Fiddler on the Roof.”

The play, based on the book by Joseph Stein, will be live on stage at the Flagler Playhouse for nine shows, opening 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 13.

“Fiddler on the Roof,” with music by Jerry Bock and lyrics by Sheldon takes place in the little village of Anatevka, Tevye. A poor man tries to instill in his five daughters the traditions of his tight-knit Jewish community in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia.

Directed by Stephen Pigman, the show will run 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturday’s with 2 p.m. Sunday matinees until the end of the month.
