The Flagler County Art League will hold a Spring Arts Show 6-9 p.m. Saturday, April 14, for Second Saturday.

The show is a celebration of springtime and features an array of media, including acrylic, watercolor and photography. Art league member Karen Nevel is entering a piece in each of these.

A graphic designer by trade, Nevel used her Photoshop skills to mold together Internet images to act as the base for her 48-by-48-inch acrylic painting, “Message in a Bottle.”

“As a graph designer, I have to pay a lot of attention to detail,” Nevel said. “My focus has to be very tight. So my challenge as a painter has been to try to loosen up.”

Another artist who will be showing work in the show is mixed media artist Judi Wormeck.

Wormeck uses a combination of handmade papers and always adds a signature touch of glass somewhere in her work as a reminder of her days as a stained glass artist.

“I feel that my style in this gallery stands out ... and I was very self conscious of that in the beginning,” said Wormeck who just recently started exhibiting her work. “But the gallery is evolving and they have new fresh ideas and people coming through, and I feel my work is starting to fit in.”

The Spring Arts Show will replace its spring festival, due mostly to a lack of volunteers.
