1:35 p.m. — 100 Block of Cypress Point Parkway. Larceny Shoplifting. An employee stated that a suspect exited his business after passing all points of sale and failing to pay for six artificial fishing lures valued at $5.12. The same suspect had previously been observed stealing a Magellan GPS, valued at $146, from the same business March 8.
While being escorted to the loss prevention office, the suspect freely admitted to stealing both the lures and the GPS. He was apologetic and appeared remorseful. The suspect was charged with a notice to appear on two counts of retail theft and was also served a trespass warning notification.
Unconcealed marijuana
9:24 p.m. — Belle Terre Parkway/Pine Lakes Parkway. Narcotics. An officer observed a vehicle failing to maintain its lane of travel. The officer also observed an object, later found to be a necklace and Honda emblem, hanging from the rearview mirror and obstructing the view of the driver.
A traffic stop was initiated, and when the officer approached the vehicle, he observed the driver reaching into the glove box. The officer observed what appeared to be a handgun in the glove box and ordered the driver and passenger to put their hands on the dash.
A search of the vehicle revealed a multi-colored pipe and remnants of smoked marijuana in a compartment in the dash. A green grinder with a small amount of marijuana in it was also found in the center console.
A check confirmed that the driver did have a valid concealed weapons permit, and he was informed of the dangers of reaching for a firearm during a traffic stop.
The driver was charged with marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession. He was released from the scene with a notice to appear and two written warnings for traffic violations.

There were no stains under his truck, and approximately five gallons of fuel were taken.
The victim’s wife had been home while he was away but did not remember anything out of the ordinary happening, aside from her dog barking repeatedly on the night of March 28.
