+ Noble named FCSAA Baseball Player of the Week
Matt Noble, a sophomore at Brevard Community College, was named as FCSAA Baseball Player of the Week for the week of March 26 to April 1.
During the week, Noble batted .500 (8-for-16) with seven runs scored, one triple, three home runs and five RBIs in four games. Noble hit safely in all four games.
Against Indian River State on March 28, Noble went 4-for-5 with two homers, four RBIs and four runs scored. Two days later against Broward, he went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and scored two runs.
Noble graduated in 2009 from Flagler Palm Coast High School, where he was a four-year starter for former coach Dusty Sims.
+ Steelers LB Larry Foote coming to Ralph Carter Park
Larry Foote, linebacker on the Pittsburgh Steelers, will be in Flagler County this weekend.
Foote, a two-time Super Bowl champion, will be at Ralph Carter Park 2 p.m. Saturday, April 14, to help demonstrate agility training and also give a speech.
Foote was drafted by the Steelers in the fourth round of the 2002 NFL Draft, played for the Detroit Lions, and played college football at the University of Michigan.
Foote’s appearance is part of the youth football program organized by Sam Sword, former player at the University of Michigan and in the NFL.
All youth are invited to take part in the training.
+ Palm Coast Elks soccer shootout to be held April 28
The second-annual Palm Coast Elks Soccer Shoot will be 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 28, at Wadsworth Park.
It’s open to children ages 6 to 13.
The Elks Soccer Shoot program consists of two different contests. The five-goal contest consists of a series of five goals, decreasing in size from 48 inches to 17 inches.
The grid goal contest consists of a full-size goal sectioned off so points can be scored when the ball is kicked into certain sections.
Winners from the shootout will compete at the district level and advance from there.
Every participant will get a medal, and the top three winners in each age category will receive trophies.
