As the sun set behind Town Center Sunday, April 22, the melodious sounds of Aaron Copland’s “An Outdoor Overture” set the mood for an evening of music by the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra at the sixth-annual Picnic and Pops presented by the Palm Coast Arts Foundation.
The signature event drew a crowd of 710 people, despite the threat of rain.
“(It) was spectacular — the best one ever. Thanks for the foundation and friends who put their heart and soul into it,” said Sam Perkovich, president of the arts foundation. “Thanks for Jacksonville Symphony for taking a leap of faith with the weather and performing.”
The group, whose goal is to bring quality arts to Flagler County, is also in the process of fundraising to build a $5 million to $7 million performing arts center. They will kick off a capital campaign in May.
