Starting pitcher Morgan Lambert lasted only into the third inning because of an injury Friday, and the Flagler Palm Coast Lady Bulldogs lost to Mandarin, 5-1, in the District 1-8A championship game.

FPC (21-5) has lost in the district championship game two years in a row.

FPC coach Sarah Poppe said the team left too many players on base becuase the offense wasn’t able to make timely adjustments at the plate Friday night .

Lambert, who has been dominant all year, exited in the third inning. Gabby Maynard came on in relief of Lambert.

It was unclear as of Tuesday morning whether Lambert would be able to pitch in Tuesday night’s regional quarterfinal. See www.PalmCoastObserver.com.
