Round up the usual suspects
8 a.m. — First Block of Coral Reef Court. Fraud. The victim stated that she attempted to file her taxes last month, and her accountant advised her that someone had already filed taxes using her Social Security number. She immediately reported the fraud and was told the government agency is conducting its own investigation. The total amount of the fraudulent refund is $1,108.
One good bite deserves another
2 p.m. — 100 Block of Palm Harbor Parkway. Animal Bite. The victim stated that she was walking her mixed breed dog on St. Joe’s Walkway near European Village when her dog started to fight with another dog near the parking lot. When she tried to stop the fight, she was bitten on the left ring finger and thumb by the dog, which was a pit bull.
The owner of the pit bull said that before the incident occurred, she was sitting with the pit bull in her vehicle. When the pit bull saw the victim, it leaped from the vehicle and tried to lick the victim. The pit bull owner said her son attempted to break up the ensuing dog fight as well, but he was bitten by the victim’s dog.
Animal Control was called and posted a notice of quarantine on the homes of both owners, because the victim’s dog did not have current rabies shots.

5:58 p.m. — First Block of Creekside Court. Narcotics. A 19-year-old male was reportedly smoking narcotics in a parking lot. A deputy responded and approached the group. A suspect was observed in a group of people, and he had what appeared to be a hand-rolled cigar containing cannabis in his hand.
When the deputy arrived, the suspect threw something into the bushes. The deputy could smell cannabis on the suspect, so he placed him in handcuffs. The suspect insisted he had only thrown a cigarette into the bush. The deputy asked him why he would try to hide it if it were only tobacco?
In the suspect’s car, the deputy discovered a black leather pouch containing a digital scale disguised to look like a compact disc case. The deputy observed cannabis residue on the scale. The suspect was transported to the county jail. Others in the group were issued trespass warnings.
April 23
Meteor Man
2:45 a.m. — 5100 Block of East State Road 100. Civil. A 36-year-old man stated that a 23-year-old woman invited him to watch a meteor shower with her. The court had previously ordered him not to have contact with her, but he was not sure whether the order was still valid. He drove to the R-section to watch the meteors with her.
After about 30 minutes, he decided to leave, but the woman blocked him in the driveway. He finally was able to leave, but the woman followed him around town, despite his attempts to lose her. She texted him numerous times as he drove to McDonald’s to contact law enforcement.
The responding deputy learned that the court order was still active.
At 3:14 a.m., the deputy received another call from the man, who said he was still being followed by the woman. He said that when he arrived at his destination, the woman was parked in the middle of the street. She got out of the car and yelled at him for making her almost run out of gas while she was following him.
Law enforcement called the woman later on and left a message stating that she was not to have any contact with the man, per the court order.

7:07 p.m. — First Block of Beverly Place. Burglary-Residential. A victim advised that she left her residence at noon. Her son arrived home from school at 2:30 p.m. and noticed that his Sony PS3 was gone from his bedroom.
The victim’s son advised that numerous kids have been to his house that the dogs could be familiar with. He advised he would ask around and check Facebook to see if anybody is talking about the incident or trying to sell a PS3.
Only a smeared, partial print could be lifted from the rear window. There are no suspects or witnesses at this time.

Hurtler jailed
7:30 p.m. First Block of Westrock Lane. Disturbance Domestic Physical. A boyfriend and girlfriend got into a fight. The girlfriend came after the boyfriend with knife. Then, she threw a ceramic bowl used for water for the dog and hit the boyfriend in the head, causing a cut on the left side of his head. The girlfriend was transported to the jail.
