Crash on Whiteview kills 48-year-old Palm Coast man

A crash Aug. 1 at Whiteview Parkway and Rolling Sands Drive, in Palm Coast, killed a 48-year-old Palm Coast resident.

Shelby R. Cuccurullo, 21, was the driver of a 1993 Pontiac SSE and was stopped on Rolling Sands Drive at the intersection with Whiteview. Pedro A. Rieva, 48, was on a 1994 Harley-Davidson Sportster and was traveling eastbound on Whiteview. Cuccurullo did not observe the motorcycle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol report.

Cuccurullo entered the intersection attempting a left turn. Rieva struck Cuccurullo, causing Rieva to be thrown from his bike. He was transported to Florida Hospital Flagler, where he died. 

Investigation remains open pending further investigation. Rieva was wearing his helmet.
