Edmund Hess, 79, was killed in a car crash at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 2, on State Road A1A near Osprey Point Drive.

Hess was traveling east in a Ford Escape on Osprey Point Drive, according to the crash report from the Florida Highway Patrol. Philadelphia resident Mary Dullea, 34, was driving a Dodge Avenger south on A1A. Hess began making a left turn in an attempt to travel north, entering the path of Dullea.

The left side of Hess' front bumper collided with the left side of Dullea's front bumper, and both vehicles then rotated in a counter-clockwise motion. Both lanes were blocked that afternoon. Dullea sustained serious injuries and was treated at Halifax Hospital.

No alcohol was involved in the crash. Hess was not wearing his seatbelt; Dullea was.
