In a nail-biter, the Lightning knocked off the Devils, 6-5, Wednesday, Aug. 1, to claim the latest crown in the Flagler Roller Hockey league.

Dan Driscoll scored the opening goal, and Dave Mancini added three to give the Lightning a 4-1 lead after the first period. Jay Gagliardo scored the lone Devils’ goal.

The Devils weren’t done yet, though. In the second period, the Devils controlled most of the play and got two goals from Mike Campanaro and one goal from Tim Perham to cut the Lightning lead to 5-4 heading into the third period.

With three minutes to go in regulation, Perham scored the equalizer. The teams continued to go back and forth until Bobby Perham netted the game-winner for the Lightning with 1:10 left on the clock.

Lightning goalie Andy Johnson stopped 24 of 29 shots en route to winning his second consecutive league championship.
