Teens In Flight student Zack Pfisterer recently passed his private pilot check ride and is now a Federal Aviation Administration licensed private pilot.
Pfisterer graduated from Flagler Palm Coast High School in May and has been accepted to Jacksonville University, where he will continue his flight training and pursue a career with the airlines.
"We couldn’t be happier for Zack,” said Col. Jack Howell, founder of Teens In Flight. "This is what students like Zack work so hard for, to become a pilot.”
Teens In Flight is a 501(C) 3 foundation formed to support military families. The group provides flight training and aviation-maintenance scholarships to teens who have lost a parent at war or is the teen of a parent who was wounded in action and is disabled.
Another phase of the program focuses on selected teens who are considered at-risk within the community by providing a positive aviation intervention experience.
The program has partnered with FourStarAero, a private aviation company that donates office space, flight instructors and the aircraft for Teens-In-Flight students. FourStarAero is owned by father and son partners Wayne and Josh Jackson. Josh Jackson is the chief flight instructor for Teens-In-Flight.
