Efforts to rescue a potential drowning victim are currently under way, as of 1 p.m., on Flagler Beach. Life guards have been using jet skis in the current since about 10 a.m., searching near South Sixth Street.

Two brothers were swimming when they started struggling in the water. By the time a life guard arrived, he could only see one person struggling, and he made the rescue, according to Tom Gillin, director of Ocean Rescue Services for Flagler Beach.

The last drowning in a protected area was 2006, according to Gillin.
