The Afro-American Caribbean Heritage Organization held its annual Caribbean Frolic Saturday, Aug. 25, at Bunnell City Hall.

The event was paired with a celebration of August Monday, also known as Emancipation Day. August Monday is a celebration of the emancipation of slaves from the British Empire and its tributaries.

Mostly observed on the first Monday in August by provinces in Canada, some districts in the United States and some former British Colonies/countries in the Caribbean, it is also observed in other areas in regard to the abolition of serfdom or other forms of servitude.

Some Caribbean countries celebrate August Monday all month, including Barbados, Guyana and Jamaica.
