Dynoswim team makes splash at Jacksonville competition
The Dynoswim Masters Swim Team from Flagler County placed several swimmers Aug. 18 in the seventh-annual Hammerhead Ocean Marathon Swim, in Jacksonville Beach.

The Hammerhead Ocean Marathon is an open-water swim with two distances — 1.25 miles or 2.5 miles.

Dynoswim’s results were similar to last year’s, said coach Glenn Partelow.

In the 2.5-mile race, coach Sheryl Watkins placed first for women ages 45-50; Kate Sussman placed first for women 55-60; Partelow placed first for men over 60. He also placed first for all men over 45.

In the 1.25-mile race, Petra Hayhurst placed first for women 50-55, and Danette D’Angelo placed fourth in the same category. Also placing fourth was Gerry Keyes in the 55-60 group.

“It was a great swim,” Partelow said. “The weekend swims off Flagler Beach paid off with solid preparation for the race.”

Dynoswim is always looking for other swimmers to join the team, which practices at Frieda Zamba three nights a week.
