Tomoka church seeks volunteers, recyclables
Members of Tomoka United Methodist Church, at 1000 Old Tomoka Road, will host their next food-serving volunteer project Dec. 23 at Halifax Urban Ministries, 164 W. Granada Blvd, and they are currently seeking additional workers.
The church serves at the ministry the fourth Sunday of every month. Volunteers leave the church at 9 a.m. and return around 1:30 p.m.
Tomoka also serves meals at the Palmetto House, 336 S. Palmetto Ave., in Daytona Beach, every fourth and fifth Tuesday of the month, with their next serving scheduled Dec. 25.
In addition to its volunteer work, the church is currently collecting empty Inkjet cartridges and jelly/canning jars, as well. The cartridges are recycled, making the church $4 a pop, and the jelly jars will be filled with jams and pickels which will be put up for sale at next year’s fall bazaar.
