Families gathered Saturday, Dec. 8, dressed in their finest Christmas attire, to celebrate Ormond Beach’s 22nd-annual HOme for the HOlidays Nighttime Parade, which ran from U.S. 1 to City Hall.
Hosted by the city’s Leisure Services Department, the 1.5-mile parade was made of floats created by various business and community groups.
"This event went splendidly — we all very proud of it," Brain Daly, from the parade board, said, noting that preparations started back in March. “This parade is the biggest one we have ever had. We had 108 entries and 3,800 people in the parade."
Siobhan Daly, staging director, also called the parade “the largest in Volusia County.”
"We have about 45 kids join this parade." Tracie Logsdon, from Tracie Angles Daycare said. "We decorated the strollers with lights and we hand out candies. All the kids are very excited about this."
Other participants included girls from Sky High Gymnastics, boys from Unified Tae Kwon Do, cheerleaders from Ormond Beach Pop Warner, musicians from Ormond Beach Middle School, students from Pine Trail Elementary, Pathways Elementary, Holly Hill’s Encore Baton and Dance Studio, Amanda’s Dance Center and Girl Scouts.
