After working in the fire department for 16 years, and serving as active fire chief for about the past year, Bob Mandarino was officially named fire chief of Ormond Beach Dec. 14.

Not just blowing smoke: Mandarino named fire chief
Bob Mandarino was named the official fire chief of Ormond Beach’ Dec. 14, after serving as acting fire chief for approximately a year.
Mandarino, who has lived in Ormond Beach his entire life, was hired by the fire department 16 years ago, and has also served as driver engineer, lieutenant, captain, acting division chief and battalion commander.
Bus-ted: Votran sets holiday routes
Votran will be running holiday trolleys, beginning Dec. 16, along State Road A1A and Beach Street, in Daytona Beach.
Residents can access the trolley routes through other Votran service routes, or along the trolley route, which loops onto Beach Street between Orange Avenue and International Speedway Boulevard.
Trolley service runs 11:27 a.m. to 12:35 a.m. Monday through Saturday, and 7 a.m. to 6:35 p.m. Sunday.

There will be no Votran service Christmas Day or New Year’s Day. Service will end two hours early, approximately 10 p.m., Christmas Eve.
Talking trash: Waste collection schedule shifts for holidays
There will be no household waste or recycling pick-up Christmas Day or New Year’s Day. Makeup days will be Dec. 28 and Jan. 4, respectively, for household waste, and Dec. 26 and Jan. 2, respectively, for recycling.
The yard waste schedule will remain unchanged.
