Celebrate the holiday season with friends and neighbors at the city of Palm Coast’s Starlight Event and Parade Saturday, Dec. 15, at Central Park in Town Center.

From noon to 6 p.m., the event, will feature a 70-foot snow slide and snow play area, pictures with Santa, sand art and face-painting, and refreshments. Entertainment will be provided all afternoon with a line-up including the Flagler Palm Coast High Dance Team, the Matanzas High Steel Drums, the FPC Chorus, 3 ‘N Motion Dance, the Flagler Youth Orchestra, the North East Florida Dance Academy and, at 4:30 p.m., the Magic of Bronze Hand Bell Choir.

Prices for activities vary, with tickets to the snow play area and slide being $5 for a wristband. A $1 discount for the snow play area will be given to anyone who brings a food item or toy to benefit the Flagler Beach Rotary Club’s Project Share.

At 6 p.m., the Starlight Parade will get under way, featuring dozens of colorful lighted floats, marching bands and other entries. Prizes will be awarded for the top entries. The route will begin at the round-about on Central Avenue and head east; turning north onto Park Street, east onto Lake Avenue, and south on City Place; then continuing south of Bulldog Drive.

This year, the Grand Marshal for the Starlight Parade will be World War II veteran Herb Brucker, who served in the U.S. Army’s 106th Infantry Division. Brucker has lived in Palm Coast since 1979 and worked for the Flagler County Sheriff’s Department as a substation coordinator under three different sheriffs. He is active with the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Fraternal Order of Police, and Post 8696 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The Starlight Half-Marathon and 5K will run alongside the parade.
