We asked residents of Ormond Beach about the best advice they'd ever received. Here is one of their responses.

Robert Wallace, principal at Seabreeze High School

Best advice: There are no shortcuts to success.

When I was a freshman in high school, one of my coaches told a story of a man who didn’t get a job because the potential employer noticed as the man left his office that he only polished the top of his shoes. The areas around the sides of his shoes were dull and scuffed.

Moral of the story: If you’re going to do something, do it right, pay attention to detail and take care of the little things. There are no shortcuts to success.
