We asked residents of Ormond Beach about the best advice they'd ever received. Here is one of their responses.
Ric Goss, Ormond Beach planning director
Best advice: Don't make perfect an enemy of good.
I am not sure when I first heard this, but I have practiced it for a long time. In my profession, urban planning, I have learned if you can get 50% to 75% of what you plan or purpose, that’s good.
I realized after doing so many plans and sticking to my guns for 100% of the plan, I was actually not getting anything done. So now, if I can get more than half of what I propose, it’s good, and I don’t let 100% kill the project, which then stressed me out.
