In cooperation with a statewide campaign, Denny’s in Palm Coast began a fundraising effort Thursday, Feb. 2 to raise money for the families of fallen law-enforcement officers.

Through the program, participating deputies will sell kits containing Denny’s coupon books and blue wristbands. All funds will benefit Miami-based nonprofit Tour de Force.

Thirteen Florida law-enforcement officers were killed in the line of duty last year — the same amount as in Texas, a state nearly five times Florida’s size, with one-and-a-half as many residents. The two states were tied for most officer deaths in the country.

The goal is to raise more than $100,000 for the families of those officers.

Until Wednesday, Feb. 8, diners who present a Tour de Force flyer at Denny’s will receive 10% off their bills. Flyers are sent to all restaurant reward-club members (www.Dennys.com), or can be downloaded on the Tour de Force website (www.FloridaTourDeForce.org).
