Alice Johnson, Linda Solomon and Gary Borse are the featured artists this weekend, at Hollingsworth Gallery and SECCA Tree Studios. The Second Saturday opening will be 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at Cypress Point Parkway, Suites 209 and 210.
Johnson, who turns 85 this month, uses her African American heritage and jazz as influences. Curator J.J. Graham will select from a collection of 85 of her paintings for the display.
In addition to being a prolific painter, Solomon is a teacher at Hollingsworth and has been an educator at all levels, from elementary school to college. One of her paintings is also in the entryway at the Flagler County Public Library.
Borse attempts to capture the “spiritual energy” of landscapes. His work was featured in 2007, at the State Capitol. Borse lives in Central Florida, and Graham visited him at his home to view some of his work
“If I lived out there, I would be a landscape painter,” Graham said. “He has the most gorgeous view I’ve ever seen.”
