The Palm Coast Sons and Daughters of Italy, which is Lodge 2858 of the Order of the Sons of Italy in America, held its first election Monday, Feb. 6. The officers are as follows: President James Sorrentino, Vice President Ed Locasico, Orator Bob Barruso, Recording Secretary Vicki Apperson, Financial Secretary Anthony Alberino, Guard Phyllis Bolcar, Master of Ceremony George Colletti, Mistress of Ceremony Teresa Sorrentino, Trustees Ben Capua, Phil Zampella, Lou Geneve and Nick Rotella, and Director of Fundraising Stephanie Bernhard.

Sorrentino said the group is a fraternal order, not a club. “We believe in God first, other people second, and ourselves third,” he said. “We try to teach our culture to second-general Italians ... but the order is open to anyone.”

Last year, the group awarded four scholarships to high school students in Flagler County, and Sorrentino said the group of 35 members is planning to do this same this year. Visit www.osia2858.com or call 931-5702.
