The Matanzas High School Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Academy will host the Regional Science Olympiad Saturday, Feb. 18.

The Olympiad is a competition between students from different schools in a series of scientific challenges and trials. Each team will be put to the test, required to use such skills as communication, intelligence, critical thinking and problem-solving techniques.

Whether it’s building a tower or racing against the clock, teamwork will be key. Students have been preparing for these events all year, before, after and during school.

The Science Olympiad is aimed toward motivating students to have a desire to learn and improve the quality of science, mathematics, engineering and technology education.
