‘Steak’ out
11:32 a.m. — 200 Block of Palm Coast Parkway N.E. Larceny shoplifting. A store manager stated that he observed a shoplifter take $84 worth of steak and meats and place them underneath his shirt. The man then attempted to leave the store, but he was stopped by the manager. The complainant stated that he wanted to pursue charges against the suspect and also have him trespassed from the store. The shoplifter refused to talk about the incident.
The store had already recovered the meat when the responding officer arrived; the shoplifter was placed under arrest and transferred to the Flagler County Inmate Facility without incident.
FEB. 4
Come back, Coach!
1:18 p.m. — First Block of Princess Kim Place. Larceny motorvehicle. A victim advised that she noticed her purse missing from her vehicle and that it had to have been stolen. She stated it must have occured between the hours of 10 p.m. and noon, and she was unable to recall whether the vehicle’s doors were locked during this time.
The black and tan Coach purse was located in the front passenger compartment and contained the following: approximately $20 in cash, an iPhone charger and approximately 16 prescription pills and three detox medication strips. There were no marks to indicate forced entry into the vehicle, and the victim was unable to provide any suspect information.
To catch a break
4:51 p.m. — 100 Block of Cypress Point Parkway. Larceny shoplifting. An employee advised that he observed a white male select a pack of welding adhesive, remove the product from the package and place the product in the front pocket of his hoodie. He then selected a brown men’s leather wallet, removed its tag, and placed the wallet in his back pocket.
The employee kept an eye on the man as he began to leave the store, passing all points of sale without attempting to pay for the merchandise.
When approached by the employee, the shoplifter stated that he took the welding material because, until recently, he was homeless and without a job, and needed to fix his bike pedal. He advised that he had also been without a wallet, which he needed.
The man was charged for theft in the amount of $16.67. He was arrested and released with a notice to appear. He was not trespassed from the store, offered no resistance and apologized for his actions.
FEB. 6
Scratching the surface
10:47 a.m. — First Block of Eton Lane. Property damage. A victim reported that his black 2000 Cadillac STS was intentionally damaged by an unknown suspect. He believes the incident occured sometime between 11 p.m. and 10 a.m. at his home. The visible damage was a scratch stretching down the entire length of the passenger side of the vehicle, as well as the hood. There was also a dirty shoe print on the passenger side door and window and damage to the expiration decal on the tag of the car. The estimated damage cost is approximately $500.
There are no known witnesses, but the victim suspects a former girlfriend of being involved in the incident. He did not wish to write a statement or have the woman listed at this time.
FEB. 8
Filter filcher
7:31 p.m. — 100 Block of Cypress Point Parkway. Larceny shoplifting. An employee stated that he observed a woman walking suspiciously through the store. He followed her and witnessed her take a vacuum filter off the shelf and put it in her cart. She then took a four-tier shelf from the hardware department and replaced the UPC code with a cheaper one from a different box.
The woman proceeded to the checkout where she paid for some of the goods, but left the filter concealed. She exited the store and was confronted by the employee.
The store is pressing charges against the woman in the amount of $57.14. She was arrested for retail theft and transported to the inmate facility.
