Flagler Palm Coast scored twice each in the sixth and seventh to beat Matanzas.

Flagler Palm Coast scored in the top of the first inning and never looked back Friday, Feb. 17, beating crosstown rival Matanzas, 6-0, at Matanzas High School.

The Bulldogs (1-3) stole seven bases —being caught only once — and tacked on four safety runs in the sixth and seventh innings for the win.

Matanzas couldn’t figure out FPC left-hander Dakota Wehde, who was dealing all game.

In six innings, Wehde had 10 strikeouts, two walks and allowed only one hit. He threw 96 pitches in the game.

In the seventh inning, Josh Roberts came on in relief of Wehde, but FPC coach Steve Poppe pulled Roberts after he issued two walks to begin the inning. Brandon Bowolick came in and struck out two batters before getting a groundout to end the game.
