Marna Connor is the new owner of Picture Perfect Frame & Gallery, in Palm Harbor.

After 13 years in business, Ron Luetkemeyer put Picture Perfect Frame & Gallery up for sale in 2006, and Marna Connor wanted it.

An interior designer by trade, Connor had always wanted to get into the framing business. But when the store, now located at 25 Palm Harbor Village Way, went to a different buyer, she figured maybe it wasn’t meant to be.

When Luetkemeyer took the business back in January last year, then put it up for sale again in November, she was determined not to miss out again.

“Opportunity doesn’t always present itself twice — so I jumped on it,” Connor said.

In the store, there are 16 walls with frame samples mounted on every inch of them. Connor orders her wood pre-stained, then cuts it in custom sizes to make frames. There are hundreds of frame options in the store, she said, as well as shadow boxes and art.

“These have indeed been some tough economic times, but I believe that when you have a passion for something, along with a positive attitude, you can make it work,” she added. “My degree is in interior design, and custom picture framing definitely feeds my creativity.”

Previously, Connor had spent about 15 years in the cosmetics industry as a makeup artist and business manager for lines like Estee Lauder, Lancome and Bobby Brown. Prior to that, she had a custom window-coverings business.

“Creating beauty for people’s homes is what I do best,” she said.
