+ FPC boys lacrosse loses season opener
Flagler Palm Coast boys lacrosse lost its first game of the season to Nease, 11-6, Tuesday night.

“It was a disappointing game,” coach Ryan Andrews said. “We had high expectations that didn’t transpire. Moments of greatness were blocked by the many little things that caused the loss.”

FPC outscored Nease, 4-2, in the second half. FPC scorers included Cheyne Devens (3 goals), Wes Adams (1 goal, 2 assists) and Shane Noble (2 goals). Conor Bertha had 13 saves in goal.

Andrews said a rule change in stick dimensions by the Florida High School Athletic Association forced FPC to play down a man on four separate occasions. Nease capitalized on those opportunities, Andrews said.

FPC hosts Pedro Menendez 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, in a District 6 matchup.
